Ivacy Review: How Safe and Effective Is It?

At only $3.33 per month for an annual plan (or $2.04 per month for a 2-year plan), Ivacy is one of the least expensive VPN services on our list—but that doesn’t mean that they compromise on your security or your privacy in any way. We found that they offer a fast, secure service with most of the protocols and features that you need to stay private on the web.

Read on for our detailed analysis of Ivacy’s VPN service to decide if it’s the right choice for you.

Privacy

Ivacy emphatically states that they keep no logs of user activities, and they are unable to associate specific activity with any particular user.

The only logs they keep are used to record “log in attempts” on their servers, as a way of troubleshooting and improving their services. When asked about these logs, Ivacy told BestSafeVPN.com that “These logs, among other system logs, such as bandwidth consumed, contain mostly the user timestamps.” We take this to mean that Ivacy likely logs timestamps and bandwidth data (though not IP addresses or any traffic data).

For most users, this provides a sufficient level of privacy, and it does not make Ivacy any less secure than the average VPN provider on our recommended list.

As a Singapore-based company, Ivacy is also far away from the jurisdictions of the 14 eyes and other enemies of internet privacy, so it’s less likely that they’ll get served with subpoenas or gag orders.

P2P File-Sharing

As Ivacy does not log user activity, they also do not track or limit P2P traffic in any way. In fact, many of their servers are optimized for P2P downloading in order to maximize speed and anonymity.

If you’re concerned about third parties or copyright holders snooping on your activities, you can rest assured that Ivacy has no way to link any particular traffic or downloading back to any individual users. You will not be banned or be subject to DMCA notices or anything of the sort if you use Ivacy for BitTorrent or P2P file-sharing.

Travel, Geo-Shifting, and Unblocking

With over 250 servers in 44 countries, Ivacy offers more than enough connection possibilities for travelers or for users who want to change locations and IP addresses regularly.

You will also be glad to know that Ivacy is an ideal solution for users traveling to China and other countries where VPNs are banned or restricted, though you may need to follow specific instructions to connect manually to Ivacy’s servers.

Ivacy subscribers should also be able to access a significant amount of geo-restricted content using their service. For example, if you’re located in the US but want to watch a TV show that’s only available in France, connecting to Ivacy’s Paris server will allow you to access the show’s site as if you were a resident of France.

However, Ivacy is not specifically designed to unblock all geo-restricted content. This means that Neflix, Hulu, and other services that routinely ban VPN IP addresses, may be unavailable. (If you specifically need a VPN to watch Netflix, we highly recommend NordVPN or TorGuard).

VPN Features

Though it’s a fairly inexpensive VPN service, Ivacy does not compromise on the number of available protocols and features. They offer all the major VPN protocols, including OpenVPN, PPTP, SSTP, L2TP, and IKEv2. (They don’t, however, offer multi-hop, Tor-over-VPN, or SOCKS protocols.)

Ivacy’s offers fast user support, including chat support that’s available 24/7. When we used their contact page to send a message, they responded approximately less than one hour later—which, relative to other budget-priced VPN services, was extraordinarily fast.

They also let you connect up to 5 devices at the same time using the same subscription, which puts Ivacy in the same cost-per-connection position as Private Internet Access (PIA), our other favorite budget VPN service. If you’re undecided between the two, you should weigh Ivacy’s slightly faster service and connection speeds against PIA’s offering of SOCKS and Tor protocols, along with its iron-clad privacy policy, which has held up to real-world scrutiny following a court order.

Conclusion

At only $3.33 per month, Ivacy is an excellent choice for anyone looking to safeguard their privacy at a minimal cost. We also can’t help mentioning that a 2-year subscription brings down the price to $2.04 per month, which is one of the lowest prices for a VPN that we know about.
While they don’t offer a free trial, you can quickly test if Ivacy is right for you by taking advantage of their 7-day money-back guarantee.  However, make sure not to use more than 7 GB of data (either for uploads or downloads) and don’t connect to the Ivacy VPN more than 30 times, or you won’t be able to get your money back after 7 days!
